How Much Does Delivery Cost in Ibadan? A 2026 Price Guide

Published 29 September 2026

Why Dispatch Pricing Feels Confusing

Ask five dispatch riders in Ibadan what a delivery “should” cost and you’ll likely get five different answers. Without a fixed, published rate, pricing ends up negotiated on the spot — which means two people sending the same parcel across the same distance can end up paying very different amounts. That’s the exact problem a fixed base-fee-plus-distance model is built to solve.

On New Errand and Logistics, every price is calculated the same way, every time, before you confirm an order — no back-and-forth negotiation with the rider.

The Pricing Formula: Base Fee + Distance

Every order type has a fixed base fee, plus ₦300 per kilometre of road distance between pickup and drop-off. The base fee covers the rider showing up and handling the job; the per-kilometre rate covers the actual trip.

Current Base Fees (October 2026)
Goods Delivery
Parcels, documents, and packages between any two points in Ibadan
₦2,000 base
Single Supermarket Errand
One supermarket run (Shoprite, FoodCo, Ace Mall, etc.)
₦5,000 base
Single Market Errand
One traditional market run (e.g. Bodija Market)
₦10,000 base
Multi-Supermarket Errand
Shopping across more than one supermarket in one trip
₦10,000 base
Multi-Market Errand
Shopping across more than one traditional market in one trip
₦20,000 base
Distance
Added to every order type above
+ ₦300 / km

So a Goods Delivery covering 10 km works out to ₦2,000 + (10 × ₦300) = ₦5,000. A Single Market Errand covering 6 km works out to ₦10,000 + (6 × ₦300) = ₦11,800. The exact fee is always shown to you before you confirm the order — you’re never guessing.

Why Market and Supermarket Errands Cost More Than a Delivery

It’s a fair question: why does sending someone to Bodija Market cost more than sending a parcel across town? Because an errand isn’t just a ride — it’s someone spending time inside the market or supermarket, finding your items, checking prices, and sometimes negotiating, before the actual delivery leg even starts. The base fee reflects that extra time and effort, not just distance covered.

What You Actually Pay For

Payment happens from your in-app Wallet, which you fund in advance through Paystack (card, bank transfer, or USSD). There is currently no cash-on-delivery option — every order is paid for from your Wallet balance before the rider is dispatched. This keeps pricing transparent on both sides: the rider sees a confirmed, paid order, and you see the exact fee upfront with nothing added afterward.

For a Market or Supermarket Errand, the fee above covers the trip and service only. The cost of the items themselves (what you’re actually buying) is separate and is reconciled with you directly by the rider or our dispatch team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cheaper way to send a package in Ibadan?

The base-fee-plus-distance model is designed to be predictable rather than always being the cheapest option for every single trip — a very short delivery will cost close to the ₦2,000 base fee, while a longer cross-town trip will naturally cost more because of the per-kilometre charge. The advantage is that you always know the fee before you commit, rather than negotiating with a rider on the spot.

Does the price change with traffic or time of day?

No — the fee is calculated from base fee plus road distance only. It does not change based on traffic conditions, time of day, or demand.

Can I negotiate the price with the rider?

No. Pricing is fixed by the platform’s rate card and shown to you before you confirm the order, so there’s nothing to negotiate on either side.
